Growing up near a ballfield, a baseball field, I wound up playing little league baseball. I don’t know why I played all those years when I know how terrible I was. My grannie, Tete, said it best, “He’s not a baseball player, he’s got art in his soul—he has a way of expressing himself—he can dance. There’s a light in this boy and it has nothing to do with sports.” How was it that she could know me so well and I was allowed to literally strike out over and over again, nearly every time at bat, every game, and every seasoning. Looking back, I see it clearly now—God was building a fire of redemption, a drive of passion, and a soul that’s got something to prove to this world. And then I heard one of my favorite motivational speakers say, “If you do what is easy life will be hard. But if you do what is hard life will be easy.” Those words along with hearing a screenwriter say that screenwriting is the hardest craft in the world, and I took action by answering the call to be great. So, I say to you, look inward and listen for the calling—it’s always been there—it just hasn’t been your time. Maybe your time is now. Will you answer it?
